Everyone has a default drink that comes to mind when asked what their favorite beverage is. This is what you order when they walk into a bar and want something immediately before you have seen a menu or are on the spot to select a drink and say the first thing that comes to mind. Some people are so predictable that friends or dates can order for them before they arrive. Having worked in bars and restaurants for almost ten years, I have noticed trends with certain drink selections. I believe that there are number of things we do subconsciously that reveal a lot about who we are to others around us such as the way we dress, our body language, and what food and drink choices we make. What we drink can be reflective of our mood on a particular occasion or can represent more intrinsic facets of our personalities. Here are some popular beverages and what they represent: Continue reading
It’s that time of year again for the Sport Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. Last year’s main girl was Brooklyn Decker, the voluptuous blonde starring in the new Adam Sandler/Jennifer Aniston movie, Just Go With It. This year’s star is Irina Shayk. I have pictures of both models and would love to hear everyone’s opinions on who they like better. Personally, I like this new model. Irina is smokin’ hot and I’m a fan of brunettes over blondes. She’s also got an exotic aesthetic to her as opposed to Brooklyn’s girl-next-door look. Don’t get me wrong, Decker is hot, Irina is just hotter. Continue reading
Last week it was reported that Ryan Phillipe hit on Rihanna at a Gucci/Roc Nation brunch in L.A. on Saturday, Feb. 12. and she shot him down. However, now an inside source is saying otherwise and claims they actually went home together.
Nicki Minaj seems to have come out of nowhere and blown up overnight. She went from being a the girl with Gucci Mane to everyone knowing her name and has sparked some controversy in the rap industry, namely with Lil’ Kim. Personally I’m a huge fan. I absolutely love her. I’m not even a big fan of rap music but I own all of her songs and she is, in my opinion, the best female rapper. It’s also great to see a woman succeeding in a traditionally male genre and it’s refreshing to that she does her own thing and does not try to be someone she is not. She graces the cover of Black Book this month and set the record straight about her perceived sexual promiscuity. Continue reading
“It’s a quarter after one,
I’m all alone and I need you now.
And I said I wouldn’t call,
But I’m a little drunk and I need you now.
And I don’t know how I can do without,
I just need you now.”
We have all either been the victim or perpetrator of that late night phone call or text, full of desperation and desire—the booty call. While there once was a time where sex really did happen strictly after marriage and the topic of sexuality was taboo, times have changed and phone calls with provocative solicitations are not only accepted, they are expected. However, I would guess that late night drunk-dialing did not really become so prevalent until the rise in popularity of the cell phone. Since I was a bit too young during the beeper/pager phase, I am merely guessing that people were paging their friends with benefits and significant others for late-night lovin’ even back then. Yet, once cell phones became as ubiquitous as pens and the payphone went out like the dinosaurs, drunken hook-up attempts sky rocketed. In more recent years, such pleading has required even less courage thanks to texting becoming so commonplace. Now just a few taps of your thumb and a sex request is on its way and cannot be taken back. Continue reading
Last week I published news of Angelina Pivarnick of the Jersey Shore getting engaged (see Jersey Shore’s Angelina Engaged!). Well I called it, this proposal was all just a sham to get some media attention. Given that her nickname is the Staten Island Dump and she was portrayed as a raging bitch who is neither sanitary nor sexually responsible, it comes as no surprise that there is actually no man looking for her hand in marriage. The entire proposal was a sham and sources say that Dave Kovacs does not even like her! Continue reading
Kate Bosworth, most famous for Blue Crush and Superman Returns is on the cover of the March issue of Nylon. Personally, I’m not a fan of the styling in this shoot. She looks sickly as opposed to sexy and they played up her waif-like image way too much. I actually have met her a few times and she is very petite, however the stylist should have conceptualized a different look for her to accentuate her assets and make her look less heroine-chic. While I don’t find this to be a flattering, attractive shoot, what does everyone else think? Yay or nay? I’m especially curious to hear what guys have to say since I’m always hearing how they don’t like woman who are too skinny. Continue reading
As I am sure all my regular readers have noticed, the background and layout of the blog has changed each week. Since this site is still somewhat new and evolving I am trying to find the right style for it and would love some input from everyone. Which background did you like the best and why? Have any suggestions for me and the site? Are you a graphic designer looking to get your name out there? If so, feel free to design me a background or logo and I will give you a free ad for your company. I want to hear whatever comments you have good and bad because the blog is as much the readers’ as it is mine.
Michelle Trachttenberg is all grown up. Some of you may remember her for her childhood acting days in the film Harriett the Spy but I’m sure the majority of people are more familiar with her for her role in Buffy The Vampire Slayer the TV show, Eurotrip, and Gossip Girl. She will be featured in March’s issue of Maxim in the US in some very revealing outfits and I have a sneak peak at the photos here. Continue reading
Over the weekend I couldn’t help but to think more about the article I wrote last Friday about post-breakup backlash. While I discussed how women glam it up and hit the town to feel sexy and desired, I did not talk too much about the heartache part of this process. I mentioned how the last time I allowed myself to be really hurt by a guy’s rejection, I went out looking like a classy prostitute (if there is such a thing) in hopes of replenishing my wholly depleted sense of self-esteem. Sure I put on a smile, had a few drinks, and talked with friends but at the time I was just a shell of my former self. I felt hollow and broken. In reality my upset was not even truly about this particular guy who decided that he did not want to see me anymore. This malaise was due to a feeling of worthlessness I inflicted on myself by letting myself believe I was not good enough for anyone. Continue reading
