Sexy Olympian Victoria Pendleton Does Esquire

She’s gearing up for the fast approaching 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London and now the 31 year old British track cyclist Victoria Pendleton was chosen to cover the August 2012 issue of British Esquire magazine.

The sexy athlete showed off her incredibly fit yet feminine physique in this Greg Williams shot pictorial spread while displaying her refreshingly unique take on things in the accompanying article.

Highlights from Miss Pendleton’s interview are as follows.

On not being afraid to show her vulnerability:
“People say as a sportsperson, you shouldn’t reveal your weaknesses. You shouldn’t come across as vulnerable. But I am vulnerable. I am emotional. What’s wrong with that? As long as my legs are faster than the other girls’ and I hold my sh*t together, it doesn’t matter.”

On her mixed emotions after winning at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games:
“I tried to feel something but I couldn’t. It didn’t feel like it was happening. I was smiling at one point but then the national anthem started and I was like, ‘You can’t laugh through the national anthem. That’s treason!’ But it just felt so comical. It was totally messed up.”

On being excited to perform with the home crowd support:
“When I was in Melbourne [in April] being jeered by the crowd [while racing Anna Meares], I thought, ‘Just you wait until we get to London. Just you wait.”

Here are the pic.  I have to say I’m happy that a really inspirational woman like an athlete is hitting the pages of this magazine.  Far too often we see emaciated actresses and models as the sex symbols of our country and it’s nice to see athletic and healthy as sexy for a change:
